Abstract
This research was carried out with the aim of To find out what teaching strategies are used by English teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic for third semester students of SMAN1 Praya Barat Daya andTo know what is the effect of the teaching strategies used by English teachers on student achievement during the covid 19 pandemic in third semester students of SMAN 1Southwest Praya. The research method used in this study is a qualitative research method because the problem in this study uses sentences that must be solved qualitatively, Data collection techniques used observation, interviews, and documentation. To analyze the research data, the author uses an interactive analysis model with reduction, namely summarizing/summarizing the data, display, which is presenting data that has been summarized in the form of tables and descriptions, and finally drawing conclusions is drawing conclusions. Based on the results of this study, it shows that the teaching strategies used by English teachers during the covid 19 pandemic are (1) Create study group from home (2) Providing materials through online applications (3)Visiting students‟ homes (4) Giving assignments through online media (B) the effect of teaching strategies used by English teachers on student achievement during the covid 19 pandemic (1) The Students are less serious in participating in learning(2) Students do not respect the teacher when given assignments(3) Decreased understanding of students due to learning
