This thesis entitled “Code-Switching among Bimanese Speakers in Lawata Mataram”. This research aims to finding out the types of code switching used by Bimanese speakers in Lawata Mataram, and the functions of code switching by Bimanese speakers in Lawata Mataram. The samples of this study were 20 conversations. The data in this study were taken by recording, observation, and note taking. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative method and classified based on each types. Result of this study shows that there are three types of code switching used by Bimanese speakers in Lawata Mataram (1) intra-sentential code switching (36,71%), (2) inter-sentential code switching (28,87%), and (3) tag switching(34.42%) ). Furthermore, data of this study proved that there were six function of code switching using by Bimanese speakers in Lawata Mataram : (1) referential function (36,43%), (2) directive function (1,66%), (3) expressive function (15,29%), (4) phatic function (15,03%), (5) metalinguistic function (19,11%), (6) poetic function (12,48%).
