Abstract

This study investigates the effects of naturalistic and psychological views emerged in Stephen King’s Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption. Researcher identifies the role of conflicts in turning up the naturalistic and psychological views by using the perspectives of Emile Zola’s Naturalism theory and Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis. In this study researcher uses descriptive method in analyzing and interpreting the data collected. Data are collected from variety of sources such as books, journal, online website, and some additional information. The findings from the study show that the impact of naturalistic and psychological views to the development of the main characters are more complex than previously assumed. The results reveal the influence of conflicts between the characters and the emerge of naturalitic and psychological views. Researcher concludes that the influence of naturalistic and psychological views in Stephen King’s Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption drastically influence the development of the main characters throughout the storyline.
