Abstract

This thesis entitled “Students’ Perception towards Lecturers’ Feedback in Writing 3 Class: A Survey of third Semester at English Department of FKIP University of Mataram” aims at finding out Students’ Perception towards feedback was given by lecturer in writing 3 class. The respondents of the research were 21 students of third semester at English department at FKIP University of Mataram in C Class. The data for fulfilling the purpose of research were taken by using close and open-ended questionnaire and feedback evidence. This study is qualitative research, and data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study were classified into negative and positive perception. In negative perception, feedbacks given by the lecturer in writing 3 is lack or fairly good. This is proved by total choices ‘seldom’ which are dominant compared other choices that is 81 from total items chosen by the students. Even though, the feedbacks which has given by the lecturer are categorized lack or fairly good. However, there are some of items which are classified positive feedback. This is proved by item number 5 and item number 6. The item (5) indicated the lecturer is often showed mistake of aspect in students writing by underlining, circling, and giving question mark. While item (6) indicated that the lecturer very often corrected mistake aspects in students writing, covering grammar, vocabulary, punctuation. To sum up, the lecturer may give various feedbacks toward the result of students’ writing; hence, the perception of students might be diverse and this is the shortages for qualitative research. Displaying the variety types of feedback and having an addition of total sample are required.
