Abstract

Abstract : Novel Tuan Guru written by Salman Faris expresses religious and educational values of Lombok People, especially East Lombok. The novel is explained by using literature sociology approach. This research is aimed to describe and explaining the opinions of Sasak’s people about the activities and the way of life of Tuan Guru, socio cultural of the people, and educational values contains in the novel Tuan Guru written by Salman Faris. This research is a kind of qualitative descriptive research using content analysis. The method is used to analyze the content of a document. The document in this research is Novel Tuan Guru written by Salman Faris. Validation used in this research is Triangulation Theory. Document analysis steps start from reading document, registering document until the document analysis. The result of this research shows that almost Lombok people, especially East Lombok people, according to Salman Faris’ opinion that Tuan Guru is a person that is able to give a guarantee to enter the heaven of Allah, the prays of Tuan Guru is quickly more acceptable by Allah SWT than the others and the people think that the frame of Tuan Guru is totally blameless. The socio cultural background of the people is covering the tradition and the reliance, occupation, education, religius, home, language, and ethnic group. The educational values contained in the novel are social education, morality, cultural, religius, economical, political, and historical values.
