Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the effectiveness of using google assistant application in improving students' speaking ability. This study uses a quantitative approach with one group pre-test post-test research design. This study was conducted at SMAN 1 Jereweh with 25 students from XI IPA 1. The speaking test was used as an instrument in data collection. The results showed that there is a significant in the average score of students after being given treatment. The difference between the pre-test and post-test was statistically significant in which Asymp. Sig.(2-tailed) < α (0.05) which was 0,000 < 0,05. It means that the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. The study concludes that the use of Google Assistant has a significant effect on students' speaking skills. The result proved that Google Assistant application can be used as an alternative medium in teaching speaking to increase students skills
