Abstract

Speaking anxiety is a worry that threatens a person self when making speech in public. This research study aimed to find out the factors that make students feel anxiety during presentation activities and to find out students’ anxiety level when giving presentation in the class. The research employed a qualitative research method with case study approach. The data were collected through observation, questionnaire, and interview with 15 students as a sample of the research at SMA N 1 Terara. The finding of the research showing that Causes of student speaking anxiety during speaking and presenting in the class is the teacher and class meet who asks lots of questions and close attentions the students presentation performances and Lack of mastering the material and lack of presentation experience in front of the class. The level of anxiety experienced by students when speaking in front of the class varied. From 15 students categorized as sample taken, there are 10 students had severe anxiety and 5 students had moderate anxiety
