Abstract

This study aims to: ( 1 ) to discover to what extent each of the senior English students’ Grammar 1,2,3, and Advance Grammar courses’ scores correlate with their SWE TOEFL scores, ( 2 ) to discover to what extent the senior English students’ overall Grammar course score’s correlate with their SWE TOEFL scores, and ( 3 ) to discover the contributions of each and overall of the senior English students’ Grammar 1,2,3 and Advance Grammar courses’ scores to their SWE TOEFL scores. The samples in this study were 60 senior English students’ from 6th semester to 12th. The data were gathered using documentation technique and testing technique. The results of the data analysis, using Person’s product moment, indicated that there are correlations between each of the senior English students’ Grammar 1,2,3 and Advance Courses’ scores and their SWE TOEFL scores, with various extents of correlations ( r =0.455 (moderate), 0.451(moderate), 0.278(weak) and 0.321(weak)), there is a moderate correlation between the senior English students’ overall Grammar courses’ scores and their SWE TOEFL scores ( r = 0.556), each and overall of the senior English students’ Grammar 1,2,3 and Advance Grammar courses’ scores give various contributions to their SWE TOEFL scores. Grammar 1 course’s scores contribute 20.7%, Grammar 2 course’s scores contribute 20.3%, Grammar 3 course’s scores contribute 7.7%, and Advance Grammar course’s scores contribute 10.3%, Overall Grammar courses’ scores contribute 32%. All of these findings indicate there is a positive correlation between the senior English students’ Grammar courses’ scores and their SWE TOEFL scores.
