Abstract
The aim of this research is to identify the types of grammatical errors made by tenth grade students of Senior High School 4 Praya in writing narrative text. The research employed qualitative approach to gain the data of students’ grammatical errors in writing narrative text. The subjects of this research were 42 assignment papers of tenth grade students’ writing narrative text. The findings showed the total number of errors is 134 errors. The three dominant types of grammatical errors in the students’ narrative texts were past tense which was shown through 68 errors or 50.78%, followed by basic verb which appeared in 30 errors or 22.38%, and infinitive “to” which appeared in 21 errors or 15.67%. In conclusion, the most common error in students’ writing narrative text is past tense
