Abstract

Celepuk Rinjani (Otus jolandae) is a protected animal based on the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number P106/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM and according to the IUCN (2020) it is categorize as near threatened. This study aims to determine the population and characteristics of the Celepuk Rinjani (Otus jolandae) tengger tree which is expected to be the basis for the conservation and protection of the Rinjani Celepuk (Otus jolandae) bird in KPH Rinjani Timur. This study uses the IPA (Point Of Abudance Index) method to determine the total population of Celepuk Rinjani (Otus jolandae) combined with observation. Where in this study, there were 52 species of Celepuk Rinjani (Otus jolandae), with a population density of 1.32 individuals/ha. Celepuk Rinjani (Otus jolandae) uses several types of vegetation to roost, namely, Bintangor bunut (Calophyllum soultattri burm), Binong (Tetrameles nudiflora), Guava rose (Syzygium jambos), Bajur (Duabanga moluccana), Sawo kecik (Manilkara kauki), Berore ( Paulownia tamentosa steud), Tin (Ficus carica) and Shrimp Kelokos (Dracontomellon mangiferum). The perch height of Celepuk Rinjani (Otus jolandae) is in the range of 4 - <20 m. The diameter of the perch tree used ranges from 31 cm - 40 cm, the canopy area ranges from 3.11 m² - 11.07 m² and Celepuk Rinjani (Otus jolandae) most often uses the twigs of the tree for perching
