Abstract

The thesis discusses “The Implementation of Picture Series in Teaching Writing Procedural Text to the Tenth Grade Students at SMAN 1 Sakra in Academic Year 2022/2023". The aim of this research was to find out whether the picture series is effective in teaching writing procedural text as well as to find out which components of writing increase after the implementation of picture series in teaching writing procedural text to the tenth grade students at SMAN 1 Sakra. The research method was quasi-experimental with a control group pretest and post-test design. The population was tenth-grade students. The sample was 50 students from 2 classes, 10 E was the experimental group, and then 10 J was the control group. Samples were taken using cluster random sampling. The instrument of data collection was a written test. The researcher used SPSS 25 version to analyze the data. The result of this study indicates that picture series was effective in teaching writing procedural text to the tenth grade students of SMAN 1 Sakra, it can be seen from the result of hypothesis testing using independent sample t-test, the result of t-test was 3.953 and the t-table was 2.011 for df 48 (50-2) at significant level 0,05 (95%), it can be concluded that H0 was rejected and Ha was accepted. The writing components in the experimental group also increased after the implementation of picture series. However, if viewed specifically from the individual writing component there are 3 writing components increased overall, they were content, organization, and grammar. The conclusion of this study is the implementation of picture series was effective in teaching writing procedural text and can increased students' writing components, especially in content, organization, and grammar
