Abstract

This study focus on the language used by the teacher in the classroom and the implementation of bilingual education in the school. The theoretical framework in this study used King & Mackey (2007) and Brisk (2008). This study used a qualitative method to describe the data. Data were collected by observation, interview, and documentation. This study found data that this school used three types of language used by the teacher: English dominant, balanced bilingual, and full Indonesian. Besides, the implementation of bilingual education in this school consisted of six categories: 1) Set goals of the school. 2) The school climate was applied by creating a bilingual-bicultural society. 3) The Integration of a bilingual program in the school.4) The leadership supported the bilingual program. 5) The teaching staff quality. 6) The school established productive partnerships with parents and communities (Brisk: 2008)
