Abstract

This study aimed to identify students' perspectives and experiences regarding the use of Google Classroom in the teaching and learning process during the Covid-19 pandemic at SMPN 3 Mataram. The subjects of this study were 10 students of class VIII 1, VIII 2, and VIII 3 at SMPN 3 Mataram. This research was a qualitative descriptive study. The data collection methods were observation and interview. This instrument consisted of sixteen questions for the interview session. The data analysis used is a thematic analysis approach. Based on the findings and discussion, the researcher found four data from students experiences such as student production of material in the online platform, gadget use, social environment, and transactional/ interactions in observation. Moreover, the researcher also found twenty experiences and eight perspectives data from interview. In addition, there were four Advantages such as electronic submission (Paperless), ease of assessment, scoring and giving feedback, and notification in real time and four Disadvantages such as the difficulty of using Google Classroom, difficulty of understanding the material, lack of interaction, and the difficulty of using Google Classroom in sending assignment. It can be concluded that not only Google Classroom is a suitable medium as a learning tool in the teaching and learning process because Google Classroom also has advantages and disadvantages in the learning process
