The purpose of this research was to find out whether the storytelling technique is effective in improving students’ vocabulary achievement in SMPN 2 Keruak. The research used quantitative approach. The presentation of data was in the form of numeric and the analysis of data use statistics. In this research, the researcher used pre-experimental research with one group pretest post-test. The sample of this research were students from second grade consistly of 28 students. In selecting the sample, the researcher used total sampling technique. This research used test as the instrument of research. The test included both a pre- and post-test. The results of this research show that using the storytelling technique has a good impact on the students' vocabulary achievement. The data show that the mean of post-test scores was greater than the mean of pre-test scores. As a result, the significant two-tailed value of the paired sample t-test was 0.000, which was less than 0.05, indicating that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. The calculation of paired sample t-test showed that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and posttest scores. As a result, the null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted, it means that storytelling technique is effective in improving students’ vocabulary achievement in SMPN 2 Keruak.
