Abstract
This study is aimed to investigate teachers’ opinions, problems and solutions in teaching English at SMKN 4 Mataram grade X tourism department in the implementation of curriculum 2013. This research is designed as a qualitative study. This study combined a questionnaire and an interview as the source of this research. The questionnaire that was used in this study is the Skala Likert (Likert Scale). The interview that was used in this research is semi-structured interview which the blend of structured and unstructured interview. This study compiles data from three teachers in a vocational school, SMKN 4 Mataram. Teachers' opinions about teaching English at SMKN 4 Mataram are very diverse. The change of curriculum has the most significant effect the ELT in SMKN 4 Mataram. The result shows issues with the teaching and learning processes in vocational school such as; a) Problems with lesson planning, b) Learning strategies, and c) The usage of textbook. However, the solutions that have been done by the teacher for facing the problems are; a) following the instruction from the govenrment in the making of lesson plan, b) using online learning platform to overcome unexpected situations (covid 19 and natural disaster) and c) fulfilling the gap of knowledge from the used book with another references. Researchers who will examine the same thing, it is possible to examine the application of the curriculum in the classroom and feedback from the students
