Abstract

Background: Vaccination for Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) aims to reduce the morbidity and mortality. Evidence is needed to identify the relationship between COVID-19 vaccination and morbidity and mortality. This study examines the relationship between COVID-19 vaccination and morbidity and mortality of inpatients in the COVID-19 isolation ward at Praya Hospital, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional study design with a retrospective approach. The sample in this study were inpatients in the COVID-19 isolation ward at Praya Hospital for the period from January to March 2022. The data used were medical record data and PeduliLindungi data related to the patient's vaccination status. The variables in this study consisted of COVID-19 vaccination as the independent variable, morbidity and mortality as the dependent variable. The statistical test used is the chi square test. Results: The sample used in this study was 79 patients. Of these, 30 (37,98%) experienced severe symptoms and 14 died (17,72). A total of 47 people (59.49%) have been vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccination significantly associated with lower morbidity (p = 0.001). There is no relationship between COVID-19 vaccination and mortality of COVID-19 patients (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Most of the patients in the COVID-19 isolation ward at Praya Hospital from January to March 2022 have been vaccinated. COVID-19 vaccination is associated with lower morbidity rates, but not mortality.
