Abstract

PID controller has been widely applied to in many industrial applications. As well as PID controller has been included as a main material in some subjects of lectures in electrical engineering departments in many universities. Nowadays, PID controller realized digitally using Microcontroller or DSP. This paper discusses implementation of PI controller to control the speed of BLDC motor that is realized using DSP TI C2000 from Texas Instrument. Three schemas of BLDC motor control i.e, open-loop system, closed loop system and cascaded control system have successfully realized. The results show that the control action are fully depend on the value of controller parameters and the cascaded control potentially provides the best control action, even though the tuning process is becoming relatively difficult. In general the result of this research indicates that the transformation from concept to practical application is successfully achieved. This is beneficial to help student to have a better understanding about theories related to PID controller and BLDC motor.
