Abstract

Induction motors are widely used in everyday life such as in the automotive industry, mining, hotels, and in the household. The commonly used induction motor is a 3-phase induction motor. In this decade induction motors are more numerous and often used in industry compared to DC motors. The shortage of induction motors is that they can not operate properly at low or variable speeds. They need to set the speed to get better efficiency. Motor speed settings can reduce losses to 20% and can save energy about 50%. To obtain the extra-high performance of an induction motor, the Dual Field Oriented Control (DIFOC) model algorithm is introduced by controlling the output side of the input signal from a single FOC model modified to a dual FED model. This Dual FOC technique transforms the induction motor into a motor that functions like a DC motor with an extra high performance. The algorithm uses MATLAB / SIMULINK simulation on the modulation index of 0.65 and 1.15. From the analysis of visual and graphical result of data processed, it was found that the increased performance of motor was shown by increasing harmonic spectrum wave in both modulation index values. The fundamental value of voltage, current and frequency increases in higher index modulation value, while the value of THD obtained is better at lower modulation index value
