Abstract

Buck Converter is one type of converters that converts a DC voltage to a different value of DC voltage. Conventional Buck Converter results a fixed DC voltage output. This research designed a new Buck Converter which is able to produce a variable DC voltage according to the requirement of the load. Variable DC voltage is achieved by using increments technique of PWM method. By using the increments technique the value of voltage and current of output of Buck Converter can be controlled. The Buck Converter operates at frequency switching of 30kHz, input voltage 24 volt DC and tested for supplying various loads such as pure battery of 3.7 Volt DC 4000 mAh, Power `Bank 7800 mAh, 3100 mAh Mobile and 4400 mAh Laptop load. Experiment results confirm that the variable voltages are successfully achieved. The voltage and current for the respective loads are 3.97 V and 0.498 A (pure battery), 4.558 V and 0.880 A (power bank), 4.277 V and 0.782 A ( hand phone), and 14.948 V and 0.998 A (laptop) with the charging time consumed for each load are 7 hours 58 minutes, 7 hours 48 minutes, 3 hours 41 minutes and 3 hours 57 minutes respectively.
