Abstract
act. The purpose of this study was to determine the abundance and composition of phytoplankton in the Kodek Bay. The survey method was used in the study and sampling was conducted at with four sampling stations on August 2012, and the sample was analyzed in the Laboratory of Fisheries Aquaculture Program, University of Mataram . The results showed that the abundance of phytoplankton on August 2012 was 6557 ind./L. There were 20 species of phytoplankton found in the bay, it was divided into two major groups; diatoms and dinoflagellates. The diatom group was comprising; Guinardia flaccida, Rhizosolenia setigera, Navicula sp., Chaetoceros sp., Thalassionema nitzschioides, Pleurosigma normanii, Planktoniella sol, Pseudo-nitzchia brasiliana, Lauderia annulata, Socphanopysis palmeriana, Oscillatoria sp. while the dinoflagelata was Pyrocytis noutiluca, Dinophysis cudate., Prorocentrum lima, Alexandrium tamarence, Ceratium fusus, C.incisum, C. boehmii, Torodium teredo and Odontella sinensis. The mean diversity and evenness indicis were 0.1307 and 0.207, respectively, indicating low category and also an indication that the phytoplankton community was unstable.
