Abstract

The geometric factor of the road is one of the causes of traffic accidents. The longitudinal gradient the road which is part of the geometric road will affect the vehicle's ability to maintain its speed. The Senggigi-Pemenang road becomes an access road to the tourist attractions of Senggigi Beach and Gili Trawangan which become tourist icons of Lombok island. Topography of the area in the hills causes a lot of sharp and dangerous curves, vertical alignment. This condition is exacerbated by the lack of complementary road facilities that are likely due to this road segment being rural roads. To support the smooth traffic on the road, more attention is needed to safety roads. The data used in this study are topographic measurement data to determine the elevation of the road, data on availability and needs of road complement facilities and data on accident incident. The difference between existing conditions and those required is the basis for determining opportunities and the risk of accidents that can be caused. The results of the research found that the value of the opportunity of an accident due to deficiency of longitudinal gradient and the availability of road complement facilities for the Senggigi-Pemenang road segment on a straight or relatively straight road averaged 10-15 times per year. The risk that can be caused by the road condition is an average value of 305.88 with the dangerous category. The road segment on the Senggigi-Pemenang road segment that has longitudinal gradient must be equipped with road complement facilities such as signs, markers, lights, and guardrail, especially roads that have gradient that are greater than the requirements.
