Abstract

As an international tourist destination, the high influx of visitors to Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air has led to a change in the pattern or value system of the local community due to interactions with tourists. The strong influence of tourism has introduced various new cultures that may not always align with the existing values and norms of the local society. This study focuses on the issue of how the local community's socio-cultural responses and adaptation patterns are towards the development of tourism in Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air. The research adopts a qualitative approach using phenomenological methods. Data is gathered through Participatory Observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data analysis used in this research is interactive data analysis, following the concepts of Milles Huberman and Saldana. The results of this study show that the cultural response of the local community in Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air is still relatively strong. This is evident in their knowledge, attitudes, involvement, and understanding of the value and norm systems, belief systems, and socio-cultural institutions, as well as their orientation towards cultural values. The local community has also adapted conformingly to the development of tourism.
