Abstract

Background: COVID-19 in Indonesia spread quickly throughout the country, so the government implemented a COVID-19 vaccination program to reduce the impact of COVID-19. However, this program created different public perceptions, so socialization was needed to introduce the COVID-19 vaccination. However, socialization of COVID-19 has challenges in its implementation. Method: This research is a qualitative descriptive with purposive sampling using the FGD technique on health workers at Mataram University Hospital who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. This research focuses on several themes. The first theme, types and figures of socialization. The second theme is the target community that needs intervention. The third theme, Challenges faced in socializing the COVID-19 vaccination. Results: The first theme, types and figures of socialization. In October 2021 the most effective types of methods and figures are socialization directly with health figures. In December 2022 effective dissemination through social media with community leaders such as religious, political or social leaders, or influencers. The second theme, the target community that needs to be intervened in October 2021, is remote settlements. In December 2022 the target community is individuals or groups of people who are reluctant to get vaccinated. The third theme, the challenge is suppressing hoaxes and differences in perceptions, maintaining public interest, and continuity in socializing vaccination. Conclusion: In socializing vaccination, different strategies are needed depending on the target group of people to be achieved.
