Abstract

This thesis entitlted The Analysis of The Translation of Slang Expression in the Subtitle of “Bad Boys II” Movie is aimed at finding out the slang and its types of slang and also discussing how the translator translates the subtitle into target language Bahasa Indonesia. The study applied qualitative descriptive method in conducting this research. The data were analyzed based on two theories. The first theory was slang types proposed by Willis, the second one was translation strategy theory proposed by Newmark. The results of this research show that there are two types of slang found in the movie “Bad Boys II” i.e new invention appears more often standard word. The translator applied four translation strategies in translating the slang expression, i.e. expansion, paraphrase, transference and reduction.
