Abstract
Porang (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) is a tuber plant with a high selling value. The glucomannan content contained in porang tubers is of particular interest to study because of its high market value. Porang plants grow on dry land at altitudes up to 800 meters above sea level (masl), but will grow well at an altitude of 100-600 masl. It is important to investigate the effect of altitude on the glucomannan content of porang plants. This study aims to determine the effect of altitude and some soil properties on glucomannan levels in Porang plants in North Lombok Regency. This research was conducted using survey methods in the field and analysis in the laboratory. The results showed that the altitude of the place had a real relationship to the glucomannan content of porang plants, but did not give a real influence on the level of glucomannan content produced by porang plant tubers (Amorphophallus Muelleri). The highest amount of glucomannan content appears at an altitude of 0-250 meters above sea level with an average value of 14.598%.
