Abstract
This research aims to determine the level of involvement of women in the management community forestry of Dongo Baru , as well as factors affecting the involvement of women in the management of the community forest of Dongo Baru. The research location is in Sapit Village, Suela Subdistrict, East Lombok District, West Nusa Tenggara. This study used descriptive method with questionnaire tool to 42 respondents conducted in February - March 2018. Research result indicates that the role of woman viewed from 3 aspect’s namely cultivated, institutional and business, included in the low category. The role of women in the management of community forest is caused by 3 factors, namely: (a) social aspect: The community still holds that those who are able to manage the organization are men. In addition, the level of education of women in HKm Dongo Baru which the average of elementary school graduates make women rarely involved in forest management activities. ; (b) cultural aspects: women are hereditary only in the care of the household and children, thus causing the low role of women in forest management. ; (c) the religious aspect: in religious teachings of Islam requires a wife to follow the words of the husband, so that everything that women do needs permission from their husbands, while husbands still have not provided a loose space to allow women to engage in forest management activities. And of those three factors, the most influencing factor is the social factor.
