Abstract

Machines that are used continuously or the lifespan of machines that have been very long often arise a problem that is the high level of vibration. This study aims to investigate the effect of unbalance of the fan blade against the resulting vibration and the required current. Tools and materials used are vibration meter, fan, ampere meter, rubber, and others. Balancing method is by addition of mass. The mass of the trial weight used was 2 grams with the mounting point at 0 °, 120 ° and 240 °. After loading of 1.6 grams at 318 ° on the fan 4 blades there was a vibration velocity decrease from 2,967 mm/s to 1,867 mm/s, current decrease from 0.153 A to 0.14 A. While on the fan 5 blades after the addition of 2 grams at 240 ° there was vibration velocity decrease from 3.283 mm/s to 2,533 mm/s and the decrease of the current 0.16 A to 0.157 A.
