Abstract
The use of a magnetic field in a fuel line with certain strength can affect the performance of the engine. The use of permanent magnets with varying strengths can reduce fuel consumption, and reduce exhaust emissions. In addition to the use of permanent magnets, other alternatives that can be used are electromagnetic based magnets. Electromagnetic magnetic fields can be produced with Solenoid and Toroid types. From the above, this study wants to know the effect of using various types of electromagnetic windings. The influence of the electromagnetic winding type of the fuel magnetization instrument studied is torque, effective power and specific fuel consumption on a four-stroke one-cylinder gasoline engine. The diameter and length of the wire used are 0.7 mm and 80 meters, the field strength generated in each coil is 4.14 Gauss for Solenoid and 4.63 Gauss for Toroid. The influence of the magnetic field on the performance of the engine was observed at various engine turns at 1500 rpm, 3000 rpm, 4500 rpm and 6000 rpm. The results showed that the Solenoid winding type increased torque, increased effective power and decreased specific fuel consumption better. The percentage increase in torque that occurs is 2%, the percentage of effective power increase is 2%, and the percentage of reduction in specific fuel consumption is 20%. The above values are obtained in testing with a machine speed of 6000 rpm.
