Abstract

This particular investigation is aimed at finding out the correlation between Vocabulary Mastery and Reading Comprehension at the first year students of SMPN 14 Mataram. There were 30 students taken as samples of the study. Statictical computation are used to get final result, and Product Moment Correlation Technique by Person and t-test is Applied. The research instrument consisted of vocabulary and reading tests and each of it’s consisted of 15 questions. To collect the data, the writer used the result of those test. Based on the result of the test, The mean score of Reading Comprehension was 6.07 and Vocabulary Mastery was 7.53. After computationed by the statical analysis of product moment, the valued showed 0.889. And after applied with t-test the valued show 10.26 while t-table was 1.697. It meant that there was significant correlation between Vocabulary Mastery and Reading Comprehension ( The alternative hypothesis was Accepted).The value of t-test (10.26) was higher than t-table (1.697) at level significance 5% (0.05). It can be concluded that the vocabulary Mastery correlate with reading comprehension of the first year students of SMPN 14 Mataram in Academic year 2009/2010
