Abstract

The thesis entitled The Analysis of Woman Subordination Represented in Pramoediya Ananta Toer’s Novel Translated by Harry Aveling “The Girl from the Coast” aims to find the background that cause subordination upon The Girl from the Coast and to explore the form of subordination suffered by The Girl from the Coast, female main character in the novel. To collect the data, a novel The Girl from the Coast is used as the main resource. In this research, the writer observed and analyzed the background of subordination and form of subordination in the novel. From the novel, there are two kinds form of subordination socially and domestically. This research is using descriptive method. The novel contained the background of subordination and form of subordination. The conclusion of this research is that woman subordination is found in this novel. The Girl from the Coast novel has described the subordination that had done to The Girl.
