Abstract

This thesis entitled “THE USE OF QUANTUM LEARNING IN TEACHING VOCABULARY: An Experimental Study at First Grade Students of MA Annajah Yayasan Pondok Pesantren Al-Halimy 2017/2018”. I was motivated to conduct this research. The aim of this research was to find out the effect of quantum learning method in teaching vocabulary. The population in this study was the 10th grade students in MA Annajah Yayasan Pondok Pesantren Al-halimy. There were 2 classes taken as the sample that I used is simple random sampling because I considers several aspect including students’ knowledge, the environment, the teacher and the total of the population have the same chance as the sample. They were distinguished into experimental group and control group, both classes are 41 students. Students in both groups were given pre-test to know their background knowledge, both groups were given different treatments, experimental group was taught by using quantum learning method whereas the control group does not use quantum learning and I used presentation and practice. In order to measure the effect of treatments, both groups were given a post-test. The researcher then calculated the score of students and describe the results based on the value of t-test as well as the teaching and learning process. The finding shows that in confidence level of 0.05 (95%) and in the degree of freedom (df) 39, the value of t-test (2.03) is higher than the value of t-table (2.02). It represents that quantum learning method brings about significant effect toward students’ ability in vocabulary mastery.
