Abstract
The aim of study was to determine the diversity of protein locus in hemoglobin of local chicken that has yellow skin in Lombok. The sample used eighty-four chickens yellow skin taken from four districts Lombok and chicken blood samples were analyzed at the Imunobiologi Laboratory Mataram University. Blood samples were analyzed using electrophoresis techniques with six percent acrylamide. The frequency of hemoglobin protein locus was calculated using the formula of Warwick, et al (1979), and genetic equilibrium was tasted using the formula of chi square. The protein locus were 0,024 HbAB and 0,976 HbAC. The protein locus of hemoglobin was controlled by three alleles (A,B and C), the freguency of allel A,B and C were 0,5 , 0,012 and 0,488. The results of this study indicated that the composition of protein locus of yellow skin local chicken in Lombok were in the genetic equilibrium (P>0,05), means the variation of hemoglobin protein locus were not influenced by external factor, such as mutation, migration and selection.
