Abstract
This study aims to determine: (1) the characteristics of cattle ranchers Simbal, (2) the perception of farmers against the cattle business Simbal and (3) the relationship between the characteristics and perceptions of farmers against Simbal cattle business in East Lombok. This research was conducted in June and July, 2016. As respondents taken 25 cattle breeders in Accidental sammpling Simbal. The observed variables include characteristics and variables Perception, data were analyzed by a scoring system and Spearman rank correlation analysis. He results showed: (1) the respondent's age average age was 43 years, the education level of the majority of 68% of them are never attended school up to primary school graduates, most of the cattle breeding experience> 10 years, the number of family dependents 1-2 people, the number of ownership of cattle mostly less than 3 tails, land ownership is mostly 0.25 to 0.50 hectares and motivation to raise cattle mostly as a primary business. (2) the level of perception of farmers towards the maintenance of cattle is high. (3) All variables characteristic of having a weak correlation with the perception of farmers against the cattle business Simbal.
