Abstract

Research on the estimating of Star grass production (Cynodonplectostachyus) using Rising Plate Meter (RPM) method conducted in the field of 3,440 m2 of pasture, belonging to BPT-HMT Serading of Sumbawa Regency. Firstly measuring the high of grass by cross or diagonal direction at 50 to 100 points in the field by using a disk-shaped measuring stick that measures the upper boundary of the ground surface to the highest grass leaf so that it displays a high size on the stick scale. The measurement results are then recorded in the high-frequency grass tables. Then to know the condition of dry meter by taking 5 point by using quadrant with size 1m2 for laboratory analysis. The production of grass is measured by the formula Y = 18.0 × X - 109.9. The X symbol is the average grass height in the RPM frequency table. After knowing the production per m2 then measure the production capacity and the number of cattle that can be accommodated. The results showed that the production per m2 was: 386.18 g/m2. So that the production of land area pasture measured are: 132.84 kg/production or 1.3 tons. Star Grass has the ability to produce forage for 9 times/year, so the production for a year of 34.74 ton/ha/year. pasture BPT-HMT Serading is able to accommodate 3.17 AU livestock in an area of 3,440 m2.
