Abstract
Ferns can grow in various ecosystems and environmental like wet, humid even sheltered such as in the University of Mataram area. Fern used to treat common diseases like headache, stomachaches, gastrointestinal aches and they were also used as diuretics, pain killers and anti-inflammatory agents. The purpose of this study was to find out the species of ferns that live in areas of buildings, shelters, waterways, and epiphytes on the tree and wall of the buildings in the University of Mataram area. The samples collection used the census method. The results showed they were 10 families with 19 species, namely: Pteridaceae (Adiantum cuneatum Langs. & Fisch., A. phillipennese L., A.capillus-veneris L., Pteris vittata L., P. biauruta L. dan Pteris sp.), Tectariaceae ( Tectaria herecliofolia (Wild.) Underw. and Tectaria sp.), Aspleniaceae (Asplenium sp.), Davalliaceae (Davallia sp.), Sellaginellaceae (Selaginella sp. dan Selaginella eclipes W.R.Buck. ), Thelypteridaceae (Cyclosorus dentatus (Forssk.). Ching dan C. parasiticus (L.)Farw), Dennstaedtiaceae (Pteridium sp.), Helminthostachyaceae (Helminthostachys zeylanica (L.) Hook.), Nephrolepidaceae (Nephrolepis cordifolia (L.) K. Presl. ), and Polypodiaceae (Dyrnaria sp. and Pyrrosia pillosilades (L.) M. G. Price.).
