Abstract

Hand washing technique according to WHO (2009) in the beginning is created that made to prevent transmission of infectious diseases and it was applied by health workers. But still, there are many hospital employees, both health workers, and non health workers who have not done proper hand washing techniques, so that the risk of bringing hospital germs out of hospitals and to the community is increased. Learning process to hospital staff was pedagogic learning which persuasively invites participants to actively participate. The results of the pretest 67.5 increased to 89. Demonstration using lumigerm® lotion that glowed in exposure to UV light is properly applied as an evaluation tools for the correctness - completeness of hand washing. As many as 97% of participants were able to demonstrate a good hand washing process. During the discussion there were two important points to understand that: 1) Improper hand hygiene means not washing hands at all and 2) Hand hygiene procedures and moments of all hospital staff must be similar and be able to teach patients.
