Abstract

This study was aimed to find out whether or not there are any significances of using Vlog—Video Blog in learning English speaking at tenth grade students’ of MA Jihadul Ummah NW Waker academic year 2019. This study was classified as an experimental study which used quantitative research method. Total sampling technique was used in this study, where the sample and population have the same number of the students. It involved 39 students of two groups, XA class as the control group and XB class as the experimental group. The control group was taught by using textbook-based technique, while the experimental group was taught by using Vlog. The data were obtained by using pre-test and post-test score. The pre-test was given to both groups before the treatment and the post-test was given after the treatment. The data of the pre-test and post-test of both groups were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The data were calculated by using a computer program, SPSS 23.0 for Windows. After the data were tested and found to be homogeneous and normal, the hypothesis was tested by using the ANCOVA test. The results of the research show that there is no significance of using vlog in teaching speaking. The significance value calculated 0.813 is higher than 0.05 (P-value = 0.813 > 0.05). Therefore, the null hypothesis of this study is accepted. It means that the vlog technique does not significantly improve the students’ speaking ability in learning English at tenth grade students of MA Jihadul Ummah NW Waker.
