Abstract

Background: Refractive error are a cause of blindness that can be overcome. The World Health Organization (WHO) states 285 million people in the world have visual impairments, of which 39 million people in the world (0,58%) with blindness; and 246 million (3,65%) with low vision. In Indonesia the prevalence of refractive abnormalities is 22,1%, but the correct correction is still very low around 12,5%. If this condition is not addressed promptly, it will have a negative impact on the development of intelligence and the learning process that will affect the productivity and quality of individual work (15-55 years). Of all these studies, it is clear that the data mentioned regarding the prevalence of refractive disorders, tend to occur primarily among students. Methods: This study is a descriptive study with a retrospective method, taking sample studies using medical records of patients in Hospital UNRAM in July 2017-December 2017. Conclusion: This study used medical records f patients, University of Mataram students who had their eyes examined in Eye Polyclinic of UNRAM Hospital in Mataram University for the period of July 2017-December 2017. There were 261students who had their eyes examined during this time period. Of the 261 respondents 223 (85,44%) respondents experienced refractive errors consisting of 59 (26,46%) men and 164 women (73,54%), with a mean age of 20,77 years. In exact students 165 (63,22%), non exact 58 (22,22%).
