Abstract

The aims of this thesis are to identity the types and the use of code switching used by vloggers in Youtube Beauty vlogs, Daily vlogs and Traveling vlogs. This thesis also describes social factors for vloggers to used code switching. This thesis used descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data. Data were collected by downloading the videos from YouTube. The result of this study showed that the dominant types of code switching were metaphorical code switching (81.26%) with 256 occurrences followed by Situational code switching (18.73%) 59 occurrences. Four social factors affecting vloggers to use code switching; the participants, social contexts, the topics and the purposes. The most dominant social factors that affecting vloggers to used code switching are the purposes (46.96%) 148 occurrences, followed by the topic (19.68%) with 62 occurrences, the participants (17.14%) with 54 occurrences and social contexts (16.50%) with 52 occurrences.
