Abstract
The research is aimed to find out the teaching techniques used by the teachers to teach vocabulary. It is also conducted to discribe the responses of the students on the implemention of the techniques. Two teachers were taken as the sample of this study. To get the data, classroom observation and interviews were conducted. In analyzing the data checklist, qualitative descriptive method was applied by using Surachmat’s 2008 TEFL (Ciamis: Universitas Galuh). The result of the study showed that there were eight techniques used by the teachers, they were Reading aloud, Demonstration, Song, Dialogues, Games, Question and answer, Mime story, and Role play. There were eight responses of the students such as Spesific response, Choral response, Open-ended or student initiated response, Silence response, Confusion (work-oriented) response, Laughter response, and Non Verbal response.
