Abstract

the Research was about The Effect of Choral Repetition Technique on Students’ Vocabulary Mastery: An Experimental Study at The Seventh-Grade Students of SMPN 6 Mataram Academic Year 2019/2020. The objectives of this study were to find out whether there are significant differences between students who are taught by using Choral repetition technique and the students who are not taught by using Choral Repetition Technique. In addition, this study also aimed to know whether the use of Choral Repetition Technique can help students improve their vocabulary mastery. The sample of the study was students in SMPN 6 Mataram consisting of two groups. Thus, the total number of samples of this research was 68 out of 406 students which are 34 students of class VIIA as the control class and 34 students of class VII C as the experimental class. The sampling technique that used in this study was random sampling. This study used pre-test, post-test to get the data. The first pf all, the students were given pre-test to measure the competence of the students. After giving the pre-test, the students were given the treatment using choral repetition technique in the experimental class and without choral repetition technique in control class for about four meetings. The last process of collecting data is the students were given the post-test to the control class and experimental class. In analyzing the data, the writer used statistical analysis with t-test formula. The result of this study showed that the value of t-test is 2.914. This was higher than the critical value of t-table at the confidence level .05 (95 %) with 1.668 and at the confidence level .01 (99 %) equals to 2.384 in degree of freedom (df) of 66. Based on this finding, it was suggested that Choral Repetition Technique can be used by the teachers to improve students' English Vocabulary Mastery so that the it was clear that Null Hypothesis (Ho) which states, "Choral repetition technique cannot improve students' vocabulary mastery" was rejected ". The Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) which states, "Choral repetition technique can improve students' vocabulary mastery" was accepted.
