Abstract

Background: Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition in which the prostate is enlarged but is benign. This enlargement usually occurs in one of the three zones in the prostate region and occurs in the transitional zone / periurethral transition zone, where this zone is the area that surrounds the prostate. In Indonesia, the exact figure for the incidence of PPJ is not yet known, but there is data from the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) from 1994 to 2013 explaining that the incidence rate for PPJ cases was 3,804 cases with an average age of 66, 61 years. The study was conducted to measure the presence or absence of a difference in prostate volume after being given combination therapy of the drugs Tamsulosin and Dutasteride on prostate volume between February 2020 - April 2020. Methods: This study was conducted using a pairwise comparative numerical analytical research model. The data were obtained by documenting the medical records of PPJ patients from February 2020 to April 2020. There were 20 research subjects. The analysis was carried out by testing McNemar's comparative hypothesis in the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) program. Results: Obtained from a total of 20 medical records. The mean age of the study sample was 67.40, with the lowest age being 56 years and the highest being 79 years. It was found that the age group of the whole study subjects was mostly in the age group ≥ 60 years as many as 17 patients (85%), while the lowest age group was in the <60 years group as many as 3 patients (15%), with an average age of 67.4 years. The average size of the pre-therapy prostate volume was 51.71 cc with the lowest volume of 25 cc and the highest volume of 118 cc with a frequency of patients with a size of <40 cc as many as 10 people and> 40 cc as many as 10 people. In the Post-Therapy Prostate Volume, the average Post-Therapy Volume was obtained, namely 42.38 cc with the lowest volume of 22 cc and the highest volume of 92 cc with a frequency of patients with a size of <40 cc as many as 12 people and> 40 cc as many as 8 people. Comparison of the age variable to post-therapy prostate volume reduction through the unpaired t-test, there was no significant difference (p = 0.497). Then the comparison between pre-therapy prostate volume to post-therapy prostate volume using the unpaired t-test showed significantly different results (p <0.001). The pre-therapy prostate volume variable obtained comparative test results (p <0.001) so that it was continued with a correlation test using the linear regression method and a strong correlation was obtained (r = 0.799). Conclusion: There is a difference in prostate volume in Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia patients who have been treated using the drugs tamsulosin and dutasteride at the Mataram City Hospital.
