Abstract

Biomass of cow manurewas found as waste and underutilized. Cow manure had the content of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen, one of which could be processed through gasification process. Gasification was a thermochemical process that converts solid fuel into gas fuel known as synthesis gas (syngas) where the combustion process used an infinite supply of air flow rate, oxygen or water vapor to prevent complete combustion. This study used vapor mass flow supply with the addition of oxygen. Synthesis gas produced through up-draft gasifier with different vapor flow mass rates of 10 grams/minute, 20 grams/minute and 30 grams/minute with the addition of oxygen by 10 liters/minute for all variations. Every synthesis gas produced was tested to a 110 cc Suzuki Smash engine to analyze the performance ratio of the resulting engine. Based on the results of the gas gasification application analysis for each variation showed that, for the synthesis gas with a mass flow rate of water vapor 20 grams/minute resulted in best performance on the engine seen at the engine speed of 4500 rpm capable highest of 8.607 Nm torque, power effective at 4053.897 Watt, and the FC (Fuel Consumption) of 1119.96 liters/hour, SFCe of 0.276 liters/Watt.hours in smalls. This was because the syngas has the highest heating value (GHV) of 28432.1599
