Abstract

The increase consumption of wheat-based products has resulted in a higher demand on wheat grain supply which fully depends on imported wheat. Efforts to grow wheat in Indonesia, especially at lowlands, have to be done to fulfil this increasing demand. To explore genotypic variation of growth and yield at lowland with high temperature, 2 Indonesian varieties (Nias and Dewata) and 6 introduced varieties from Australia (Axe, Silverstar, Westonia, Janz, Gladius and Yitpi) were assessed. Janz, Nias, Westonia and Gladius produce considerably high yield associated with more grains/ plant. These genotypes could be used as a source of genetic material to improve wheat adaptation at lowland tropical environments
