Abstract

This study discussed the correlation between students’ learning motivation and achievement on online learning. The objectives of this research were (a) to find out the students’ learning motivation on online learning; (b) to find out the students’ learning achievement on online learning; and (c) to find out the correlation between motivation and achievement on online learning. This research used correlational study. The data were collected using questionnaire and documentary. The population of this research was 345 students in X grade students of Senior High School 1 Terara and the sample consisted of 55 students. They were taken by using quota random sampling technique. The result shows that the learning motivation is 65.2% (15 students) are in high. Based on the percentage of motivation, there are half students who have high achievements and others are low. Learning achievement was presented that 40% (22 students) are in high. From the percentage of achievement are 14 students who have high motivation in learning, very high are 3 students, and enough are 5. The calculation result is the r value < r table or -0.044 < 0.266 at the 5% significance. The score of rvalue was very low and negative. It means that between the variables i.e, students’ learning motivation and achievement, does not show a linear correlation. On the other hand the more motivation that students have, the less achievement they have. Therefore, it can be concluded that learning motivation and learning achievement, have negative correlation in X graders at Senior High School 1 Terara in the academic year of 2020/2021.
