Abstract

ETA PAHLEGA ARIYANSYAH P.P. E1D 011 017 ABSTRACT The aim of this research is to analyze grammatical errors made by students in writing English composition at Grade XI MAN 2 Mataram academic year 2014/2015. This is an descriptive analysis with total population 81 students and the sample was Social Class 1 which has 39 students. Only 20 students can join the research: The students were given a single topic that was Social Media and it must be written in 4 paragraphs or 35 Sentences. There are 4 steps in analyzing the data; Identifying the errors, classifying the errors, calculating the errors, and describing the errors. The result showed that there are 4 types of errors were found those are Omission, Addition, Overgeneralization, and Misordering errors. The data showed that Omission has 37.62%, Addition 28.71%, Word Overgeneralization 14.85%, and Misordering 18.81%. It can be concluded that the most grammatical error made by students Grade XI MAN 2 Mataram was Omission Error.
