Abstract
This thesis entitled “The Use of Clitics as Terms of Address in Sasak Meriaq Meriku Dialect: A Case Study at Sengkol Village”. This study aimed at identifying the pronominal clitics used and to analyze the structural distribution served by the clitics of Sasak language of Meriaq-Meriku dialect at Sengkol village, Central Lombok. The method used of this study was descriptive qualitative. The data of this research were taken from short daily conversation of Kekale sub-village which were collected by observation, recording, note taking and the researcher as a native speaker from the society of menak (noble) and non menak (non-noble) people. The data were analyzed through transcription, segmenting and explanation. The data analyzed was based on theory of clitics (Austin, 2004). The result showed that, the use of address forms and word choices were showing by the use of the clitics such as „k‟ (first person singular pronoun), „m‟ (second person singular pronoun), „n‟ (third person singular pronoun), and „t‟ (first person plural pronoun). Moreover, there were structural distributions that were attached to the clitics use such as noun, verb, adjective, auxiliary, adverb, preposition, conjunction, and negation. This study also recommended to other researchers who have same interest in the kinds of clitics but in different dialect.
