Abstract

This thesis entitled Naturalness Translation Based on Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Novel into Bahasa Indonesia. Translation is very important in literature discipline. It is not only used for study but also for entertainment value. The novel that is used in this study is written by Jonne Kathleen Rowling who is known as the author of Harry Potter novel series. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is the seventh series and it has been translated by Listiana Srisanti. One important aspect that needs to be considered in translation field is naturalness. This thesis discusses about how natural is the translation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows that is translated into bahasa Indonesia. The theory that is used to analyze the data is the theory from As-Safi and Ash-Sharifi which is proposed that naturalness can be defined by some features, those are: well-formedness, acceptability, and idiomaticity. The objects of this study are words, phrases, and sentences in the novel. The data are analyzed by descriptive method. The result of this study shows that the translation of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows into Harry Potter dan Relikui Kemation Indonesian version is translated naturally. The translation is translated the text by obeying the grammar rule of bahasa Indonesia and finding the proper equivalence for the target language.
