Abstract

This study aimed at identifying whether using Realia in teaching speaking is effective or not in increasing students’ speaking skill at grade 8th students of MTs. Darul Qur’an Bengkel Academic Year 2015/2016. This study is an experimental study. The population of this study was 121 students and using purposive sampling technique was used: 30 students of class A was selected as experimental group and 30 students of class B was selected as control group. Both groups were given pre-test, treatment and post-test. In pre-test and post-test students were asked to describe a particular thing. The data were analyzed quantitatively using t-test. The result of the t-test was 4.36 with t-table at 0.05 = 2.00172 and t-table at 0.01 = 2.66329 it means that t-test is higher than t-table and therefore the use of Realia was effective in increasing students’ speaking skill.
