Abstract
This research is aimed at finding out the effect on the use of Mind Mapping technique for the second grade students of SMKN 7 Mataram in academic year 2013/2014. This research used quantitative method with experimental design. Each class consisted of 28 (A class and B class) as the samples. The data was collected by giving pre-test and post test of multiple choices test with 30 questions for the pretest and 30 questions for the post-test. The data were tested through statistical testing hypothesis, t-test. After conducting the research, it was found that the result of t-test was 3.96 while on the t-table was 1.67252. It means that Alternate Hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and Null Hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Because of the result of the t- test was higher that if the t-table, then it is concluded that the use of Mind Mapping to teach reading narrative was effective for the second grade students of SMKN 7 Mataram in academic year 2013/2014.
